bs,
Well,in your case, being you compete in MMA and all, being explosif is essential to becoming a better fighter...you of all people should know how fast everything happens in the ring and how speed plays a huge role in expressing power ... purposely going 'slow' defeats the purpose of developing a strong and powerful core...think of gymnasts, baseball players, basketball players, dancers, you name it...all need to have that explosive factor and express the true meaning of power which is to make it from point A to point B faster and more explosive and always under control...

Just to add to TP's response, if you are training for sport your training protocol will (should) reflect that.
You are what you're trained to be, and in your case (MMA) you want to be FAST.

When performing choppers the way Theo has shown me with speed it's an exercise that is very difficult and works wonders on the core. Since I gave birth to my son 11 months ago Theo has always had some kind of core exercise like ie. the choppers in my workouts and WOW can I see a difference. Very hard but end results very worth it!!!!

One of my pet peeves = people counting tempo on choppers...it was never intended to be performed this way.
