Hey guys, I have noticed different people get different number of meals /day. What are some deciding factors on how many meals one gets? I would assume lifestyle is one factor, but I have a feeling there is more to it.

Darius,
This is based on hunger hormones and is an overlooked factor in most cases. Most just blindly prescribe 5-6 meals, but this is a common mistake that can seize your progress.Understanding hunger hormones and proper gastric emptying is key here. It's very relevant to your present 'needs state' as far as metabolism is concerned and if hunger hormones are in check or not.In addition,it also depends on your goals (ie:athlete, model, bodybuilder pre-contest,etc).

Thank you Theo, I knew there was more to it, now you got me really interested in topic at hand. Would you recommend and readings on this that are worth while? Another question would be the frequency of feedings, the general rule of thumb is 3 hours from what I understand, have you ever prescribed other frequencies to your clients?

I learned alot from Scott Abel and his one-on-one's with me as well as studying everything as far as hunger hormones are concerned.Bariatrics taught me alot about human response as well...look up hunger hormones and study them all and get to know human physiology inside out.
