Hey Theo,
Thought i'd ask you a question to see if you can help based on your knowledge with yourself and your clients.
When i first got my diet from Scott , Fruit was not on the list "untill" I was happy with my condition, The same went for Cottage cheese as a protein source.
As you know, I'm doing the CD and thus far it's going great. My weight drops back to " pre cheat" in like 3 days now and it really fuels up my workouts and right now i NEED it, Doing a 6 day hybrid plus 2 abs/core circuits .......
Since being on the CD my "week day" cals are set around BW x 10 - 2000cals ( 200lbs) sometimes less than that but never lower than 1800cals.
" Calorie " wise, I noticed there was some room for additional cals so as I have a sweet tooth i though fruit would be a good addition. Generally I eat 1-2 pieces per day ( apple, orange, grapes, berries etc) only 1 or 2 of those listed ! Do you see an issue with fruit and doing the cycle diet? Can supercomp still be achieved just the same, So far i've NOT noticed any problems or the water retention that fruit can give some individuals.
As the way i " originally" set my diet out, as said it still left room for cals, Instead of the fruit would some extra carbs ( rice, potato) be a BETTER option. Or even some additional fat? As right now i pretty much have none apart from 6g fish oil daily..
Thanks

Danny,
Here's my thoughts "based on what I've heard" from you;you seem to be using your fuel efficiently at this point,so,fruit should not affect anything...now,if you were trying to peak,yes...BUT since you're not prepping for anything,I would just add the necessary amount once / day...usually in the morning would be my preferred choice BUT not necessary...you sound like you're on track and in no way can fruit make you retain water to any significant level...as long as they are portioned to your needs/protocol...but my advice is based on you being in supercomp mode for sure...Some pics would help with this general assessment but based from your posts...these are my thoughts brother.
Best, Theo

Hey Theo,
What qualifies/disqualifies and individuals needs for fruit consumption.
How do you go about assessing and figuring out whether fruit is going to do some good for the individual vs. being counterproductive?
Thanks coach.

Well,if one enjoys fruit it qualifies for me and many of my clients enjoy it...now again,I prefer to include them within a diet (if one enjoys mind you) on a consistent basis so that the body becomes used to handling that type of energy...I honestly see no reason to micro analyze how a piece of fruit will impact your cosmetics or whatever else fruit is known for within bodybuilding circles...fruit works well and just like anything else as long as portion control is adhered to...if it's consistent enough fruit works...
Now,if you are preparing for a show where cosmetics are crucial to your success then you can perhaps micro analyze a little more not only with fruit but everything else as well BUT that's another story altogether.
Best Theo

Thanks for the reply Theo.
I'm interested more in your everyday time clients as apposed to competitors.
How would you incorporate fruit into ones diet, would it make up most of the carbohydrate consumption/meal, or would it compliment the meal. For example one may have a chicken breast, sweet potatoes and an apple on the side?
