Theo,
I read alot about time under tension these days and many of my friends are following programs with tempos to follow while performing an exercise. My program (which I love by the way)does not have any of that. How come ? Thanks

I beleive that "TUT" is valid to some degree depending on what effect you are trying to create as well as variation concerning one variable,in this case tempo;for instance isometric holds, explosive concentrics, accentuation, etc are all viable tools in the tool box as a coach...will it take you to the next level of training ? no...just another tool...keep in mind that the more thinking you do while performing an exercise the less you can concentrate on the true experience of the whole process and the task at hand...so personally, yes,I beleive it is "over-rated" to some degree,in that making people beleive it's necessary to include tempos...I prefer a more simplistic approach,in that you concentrate on the task at hand to get the job done...it just makes more sense...besides,counting out tempo takes away from the experience and makes trainees look robotic along with the note books to record all the poundages,tempo,etc...not my way of getting the job done.it's all about biofeedback, which is THE most important tool when gauging progress. This is described as "quantification syndrome" by Scott Abel;where everything needs to get measured in some way.Being a slave to numbers misses out on the whole experience of your workout and just minimizes the actual effect you and your coach are trying to create.Concentration of the task at hand, oxygen debt, pump, execution, performance, etc are much more viable and over time make you a better trainee, where you can take a program and actually get what it was intended to create.

Thank you for your response coach! my performance has gotten better and like you said I need to concentrate on the task at hand.I'm loving the way I'm feeling and looking right now although I wouldn't mind sweating less. lol

Sweating in your case is a good thing Elli...no worries there! The gym is where we should be sweating...
