forgot to mention also how you approach the reg. days. Do you follow the principles of the Anabolic Soulution or you go more for Scott Abel`s approach?

Arush, welcome and thank you for your input.
Have you used anabolic solution for cutting? If so, how did you approach sat fat in cutting phase. I believe Dr. Di Pasquale mentions the importance of olive oil, and flax oil in the cutting phase, both low in sat fats.
Also, this is a pretty general question, and the answer will be different for everyone, but speaking in GENERALITIES, if my intake of carbs prior to anabolic solution was 200g while cutting, would my fat intake equal 200g (/DAY) as well in a cutting phase?
I'm kinda stuck as far as my fat/protein intake goes in a cutting phase, or at least what are the recommended macros.

thank you yeah i agree, the love factor is important for me aswell On the carb load day, how do you divide the % of calories? from fat, carbs and protein? because i find it sometimes hard to make something that tastes really good and is packed with carbs but low in fat. Well, first off ask yourself this ? -Why have you added the carb day because for me,the spikes come only when you have completely depleted your glycogen stores...also,it depends on what phase you are following at the present time.Adding spikes when not 'ready' will lead to maintenance or fat gain...as far as macros,I don't view it that way...As I mentioned earlier,I beleive in significant caloric spikes.Honestly, macro %'s have little to do with it. Darius Darius, Think about this for a minute : 200g carbs = 800 calories 200g fats = 1800 calories Big difference right there...you need to be in a relative deficit to be cutting,so take that into consideration as well...from a guy who has mastered high fat,you will know when the body is not fueling your performance, even if you've crossed over as far as 'metabolic shift'. Hope this helps. Best, Theo

Best, Theo For me that takes a week almost always. And yeah when i start dreaming of rice, bread and other carb sources and i have to drag my legs to the gym then i know its time Ok i have been trying to focus on mostly carbs on my calorie day, and a litle afraid to mix it in with fat, but maybe it doesnt matter when u reach a great leaness. As for now i think i will stick to mostly carbs to refill my stores and only that. Yeah as for cutting fase im also only using saturated fat, but i reduce the inntake. I also reduce the protein inntake to 1-1.5g of goal weight in kg. and use the same with fat. You have to cut down on fat aswell so that u dont get enough fat/energy from the food and the body has to use its own body fat for energy.

arush,
Well,I can tell you just from your comment on "i want to get lower in bodyfat %" that you are not ready for this type of dieting. This is why I adress the issue of 'individuality' and 'responses' to said protocol. You can't just wing it...it won't work and in fact, will probably take you further away from attaining your goal.By all means, purchase the DVD;it's an excellent guideline to setting yourself in the perfect metabolic state and use spikes strategically to create a fat-burning environment.Nevertheless, just like the ANABOLIC SOLUTION,it's written in a general sense to cator to the masses and help you understand certain strategies utilized under certain conditions...but one thing it does NOT cover is individuality...and how could it ? We are all different and responses are no different...many don't understand just how important the 'individualization' principle really is...if you ignore this, trust me when I tell that you will always fall short on progress.GOOD LUCK.

The DVD is a great tool, but Cycle Diet is no magic bullet, you need to be ready for it, both psychologically (maturity) and physically (supercomp). Once you're there, you will enjoy the journey as you should, and not struggle. Check out Scotts forums on the topic and read about the Cycle Diet there, you can learn a lot from the forum on topic at hand (it will help you decide if it's something for you).

Good points Darius...what I've noticed is that people get excited about the cycle diet, anabolic solution, metabolic diet, etc because of the cheating to produce dramatic cosmetic effects...what most people FAIL to realize is that to get to that "sweet spot" where strategic spiking will be beneficial, severe caloric deficit in relative mode is mandatory...and some will take weeks to get there and some will take months and some even longer...many factors to consider...I know many who have responded to all these diets negatively because 'it didn't work'...the HARD WORK to get to that sweet spot is where it's at...not the spiking...when spiking enters it's all progress from there on and very easy to maintain as long as it serves its purpose.

Just to give you guys an update, I am on day 12 of the metabolic shift phase. Energy levels are little low, but that might be due to my activity level (mountain biking, squash, and training 6 days per week adds up), therefore I will have to adjust caloric intake accordingly. As far as cravings go, well I do have occasional craving for sweets which I can deal with (diet pop). For past two night I had dreams about upcoming carb-up day. Other then that all is good.
Let me know if you have any general tips, suggestions as far as carb-up goes (I will be going into cutting phase). Dr. D hives outline in his book on the topic, but as I said before, there might be a gap between text and real world application. Thanks to all.
Darius
P.s I will wait till Sunday to do my carb-up day.

How much weight have you lost ? Are you where you need to be 'cosmetically' speaking ?

First week haven't lost any as I was eating plenty, second week (as I started watching my caloric intake) I lost 2 lbs up to today (5 days). Cosmetically, if I was to put a number on it, I am about 10-15 lbs away.

Darius,
Hard for me to assess because I have no visuals and you are not a client...but all in all, looks like you are not ready for a spike in any way...let's just say, initially you should at least be losing on average 12-15 lbs of water alone(within 12-14 days),so not sure what happened there. As soon as you convert from carb to fat as sparing effect the water loss is immediate...mind you this is all things being equal as far as proper calorie distribution/metabolic state...so not sure, but it would seem to me like you need to adjust calories for sure (sub-maintenance).Let us know!!!
Best, Theo
